about Adams County
Adams County is located in
South Central Pennsylvania near the historic Mason Dixon Line, the border
between Maryland and Pennsylvania. The county seat, Gettysburg, is the
setting for one of the greatest events is history: The Battle of Gettysburg.
Gettysburg has many tourist attractions such the Gettysburg National Military
Park and the Eisenhower Historic Site.
Nationally, the county ranks
11th in apple production, 18th in peach production, 19th in cherry production,
and is listed among the top 100 counties in the United States for specialized
crops. Adams County is also the most concentrated fruit processing area
in the country. Adams County is the leader in preserving its agricultural
land.
Higher education facilities
in the county include Gettysburg College, Gettysburg Center Harrisburg
Area Community College, and the Lutheran Theological Seminary.
